I have always believed the best connections in life happen when people are doing what they love. For myself, I found that those connections often happened when I was at concerts surrounded by strangers, exploring a new city where there is always something to do, or taking a chance and seeing what opportunities, experiences, and friendships might come from it. If there is a word to describe myself it would be adventurous and that has carried me a long way in life thus far.

Moving to Chicago tested that belief, I arrived not knowing a single person, and building a life in a new city with new people felt intimating at first, but just as I have always done since I was a kid, I applied myself and the more the city started to feel like home.

Five years later, I now consider Chicago home. The friends and communities I have built over the last five years are the result of putting myself in new situations even when it felt intimidating. What makes it even more special is that I built everything around me from the ground up.  I absolutely have no regrets.
